Roc Nation‘s newest R&B singer Bridget Kelly is proving that she’s more than Alicia Keys’ stand in when Jay-Z performs “Empire State of Mind” in concert. Kelly is doing that with the first single “Special Delivery” from her debut album.
The ballad is about a woman who is so over her relationship with a no good man that she hand writes a break up letter. Before you say something slick about Bridget writing the letter, she says in the lyrics that she wrote it so he could feel the conviction behind her words. “Special Delivery” features painful lyrics like, “I hope these tears I cried don’t dry by the time they reach yo side.”
Bridget Kelly sings with urgency because she thinks her man might get it together and she won’t be able to stand up to his charms. Kelly sings, “Please Mr. Postman hurry hurry before he cleans up his act. This is a special delivery.”
Check out her debut performance of the single “Special Delivery” at the Essence Music Festival. Does this single show Bridget Kelly has a bright future in R&B? Are you feeling “Special Delivery more so than the songs off her mixtape Every Girl?
