The Obama campaign brought in a healthy $75 million in the month of July, but it wasn’t enough to beat Mitt Romney’scampaign which raised $103 million. July marks the third month in a row that the Republican candidate’s fundraising efforts have topped $100 million.
Although Obama’s amount trails Romney, it is an increase from the month of June, when he raised $71 million. In the month of July 761,000 people donated to the president’s re-election campaign, while just over 200,000 were repeat donors. “Every bit helps,” read a post on the President’s Twitter page, Monday (Aug. 6). “98% of our contributions in July were $250 or less, for an average donation of $53.49.”
