After almost 15 years in office, the residents of Talkeetna, Alaska, say they’re still happy with their four-legged mayor.  Anchorage’s KTUU-TV says the part-manx cat known locally as “Mayor Stubbs” was given the honorary title shortly after his birth when he reportedly won the mayoral election as a write-in candidate.  The campaign began as a joke by some Talkeetna residents who were unhappy with their human options and decided to throw their support to Stubbs.  And more than a decade later the feline official is still serving the town of nearly 900 people, even though he spends most of his time lounging around Nagley’s General Store.  Lauri Stec, who works at Nagley’s, says at least 30 to 40 tourists come in every day to see Stubbs in person.
