(Maine Township, IL) — A young child in Illinois is recovering after part of her finger was bitten off by the family’s pet piranha. Authorities in Maine Township say the one-and-a-half-year-old must have reached inside of the fish tank while she was playing near it and was bitten. The parents thought initially their dog was responsible for the injury but they quickly realized it was probably the fish. The father grabbed the piranha, sliced it open and actually found the fingertip inside. The little girl was rushed to the hospital so the fingertip could be re-attached.
