(Los Angeles, CA)  —  Microsoft is jumping into the tablet game.  CEO Steve Ballmer made the unveiling this afternoon for the handheld device called “Surface.”  Ballmer says “it embodies hardware and software working together.  The Surface boasts a widescreen, ten-point-six-inch display with a built-in stand for upright use.  The new tablet can also utilize a magnetic cover for protection which also doubles as a multi-touch keyboard.  At least one of the versions will also come with Microsoft Office.  There is no word on pricing or availability.
