Meek Mill did it again. Last year, the 2011 XXL Freshman shook up the rap game, dropping the DJ Drama-hosted Dreamchasers mixtape, featuring summer anthems like “I’ma Boss” with Rick Ross and “House Party.”
Last week, the MMG artist released the highly anticipated sequel, Dreamchasers 2, to an overwhelming response from fans that ultimately crashed the popular mixtape website, with over 200,000 downloads in the first few hours. Now, just a week after its release, Dreamchasers 2stands at nearly 2,700,000 downloads.
“2 million downloads in a day or two? I’m just blessed,” Meek told MTV this past weekend in Atlantic City, New Jersey, where he and his MMG family performed. “I expected to do 300,000 to 400,000 then took it over to two million.”
