According to published reports in sports, the Houston Texans have released wide receiver Jacoby Jones. The release of Jones happened Tuesday and came less than a week after the Texans selected two receivers in the 2012 NFL Draft.

Jones is a five-year pro from Lane College and played in all 16 games for the Texans in 2011. Jones made a note-worthy punt during a divisional playoff loss to the Baltimore Ravens back in January. During his professional football career with the Houston Texans, Jones had 127 receptions for 1,741 yards and 11 TDs. Jones attended Marion Abramson High School in New Orleans, Louisiana and was a letterman in football, basketball, and track.

The Houston Texans selected wide receivers DeVier Posey of Ohio State in the third round and Keshawn Martin of Michigan State in the fourth round. Martin is also a return man.
