Being one of the most famous faces on television is supposed to be a guaranteed passport into the hottest nightspots.But Modern Family star Sofia Vergara was refused entry to a trendy New York club because she couldn’t prove she was over 21 years of age by a bouncer who had no idea who she was. The spicy 39-year-old Latina star was stopped by a doorman on her way into an after show party for the opening night of the Broadway musical Ghost: the Musical.

The busty actress, who recently hosted Saturday Night Live, was asked to show some form of ID to prove she was aged over 21.

When she explained she did not have any with her, the doorman refused to allow her into the Ava Lounge at the Dream Midtown hotel in New York.

A friend pleaded with the bouncer, asking him: ‘You know who this is, right?’

According to the New York Post, even when faced with the actress’ sizeable charms, the steward shook his head and refused to allow her into the party.

Spicy Sofia reportedly left without making a fuss. The voluptuous Colombian has become one of the most recognisable TV stars in the last two years thanks to her role on the hit comedy “Modern Family.

The Ava Lounge has a strict policy that only people who can show ID to prove they are aged over 21, the legal drinking age, can be admitted.
