Today would’ve been Selena’s 41st birthday. She was named the “top Latin artist of the ’90s” and “Best selling Latin artist of the decade” by Billboard magazine for her fourteen top-ten singles in the Top Latin Songs chart, including seven number-one hits.
Sadly Selena was murdered March 31, 1995 two weeks before her 24th birthday by Yolanda Saldívar, the president of her fan club.
Last spring the U.S. Postal service announced plans to honor Selena with her own stamp. While Visa intends to distribute a pre-paid debit card, ensuring that Selena will never be forgotten.
