With tragedy comes change and sometimes even opportunity. Dolly Parton is set to earn a fortune on the death of Whitney Houston due to their royalty agreement.  Dolly was the original author of the song “I Will Always Love You,” which has experienced a surge in record sales since Whitney’s death.

Parton, who is now 66-years old, gets both writer and publisher rights on the song, which is a big chunk of the revenue.  She wrote the song 1973 and it was #1 on the country music charts during the same year.  Whitney picked up the song in 1992 and used it for the film, “The Bodyguard.”  This is what led to the song obtaining legendary status.
