A 28-year-old South Korean man and his new wife have become the epitome of strange bedfellows. “USA Today” reports Lee Jin Gyu recently married his favorite pillow he calls Fate Testarossa. Known as a “dakimakura,” which means “hugging pillow” in Japanese, the body pillows are often imprinted with the image of a popular or sexy anime figure. Love is not cheap. A dakimakura costs over 200 dollars. On the day of their nuptials a South Korean TV station captured Gyu taking the body pillow he calls his wide-eyed “magical girl” to a theme park for a ride on the the roller coaster and carousel. After ordering two bowls of pasta for dinner, Gyu slipped Testarossa into a wedding dress and himself into a tux for a priest to pronounce them husband and — pillow. Here’s hoping they never have a pillow fight. There’s no word on where the two were going for a honeymoon, but both can take heart in a quote by Nathaniel Hawthorne: “What a happy and holy fashion it is that those who love one another should rest on the same pillow.”
